Blown Insulation

Insulation plays a major role in determining the comfort and energy performance of a home. However, many of today’s homes (even new homes) are poorly or insufficiently insulated. Blown insulation can help, but poor installation and inefficient placement of only 5% of insulation can cut an attic’s overall R-value in half, diminishing the purpose of having insulation in the first place.

This is precisely why having a knowledgeable, experienced insulation contractor is imperative if you want a quality, well-functioning home with even temperatures throughout. We conduct all blown insulation installations in-house to ensure that this critical building component is up to our rigorous standards. And the great thing about blown materials is that we can easily get continuous spread of the material even into the smallest corners of your attic to comply with the thermal barrier standard.

We install fiberglass and eco-friendly cellulose or other recycled material. Both are considered loose-fill and can described as the following.

Fiberglass

In its loose-fill form, fiberglass is made from glass that is blown or spun into fibers. It is installed using a blowing machine. Loose-fill fiberglass is suitable for attics and wall cavities and can combat common insulation enemies like mildew, fungus, and moisture.

Cellulose

Blown cellulose insulation has been around since the 1920′s and consists predominantly of recovered or recycled materials. Materials such as newsprint and/or corrugated cardboard that is then treated with a fire retardant. It’s a great product because of its environmental aspect as well as its energy efficiency benefit.

Investing in insulation and air barrier repair is one of the most effective ways you can lower your utility bills, make your home more comfortable and healthy, and reduce your impact on the environment. Typically, your attic and ducts are out of sight; don’t let them be out of mind. People tend to jump into investing in new windows, or a new washer and dryer, which are all great steps but can be costly and have a minimal return on investment.
